Tom Robbins- Skinny Legs and All page 177

This book has been opened and closed, flipped and flopped, splashed and dried (even sporting spots of mold's cousins) but the story stays the same when finally passed into the light of my literary curiosity. Who knew a tale of lost inanimate objects, religion, and war could be so inspiring?

About the creation of something without the purpose of advertising gimmick or promotional stunt:

"Can't they comprehend that not ever'thing's done for a paycheck? That sometimes you just make a thing 'cause you wanna see how it'll turn out, 'cause you have a feeling in your gut that it oughta be made?"
